Many of my friends use Toro lawnmowers, while I have refused to let go of my old Toro lawnmower.
It took me many years before I could finally replace my Toro with a Ferris ISX3300.
Did I miss my old Toro? I cannot say I missed that powerful Toro Z-master 52″ because I got what I wanted from the Ferris brand.

2014 Toro celebrated its 100th anniversary, having metamorphosed into a lawnmower company.
The Toro Company has retained its independence all these 100 years because they want to maintain a high standard.
Toro was never acquired by a larger company, it was a notable milestone for Toro was among the few manufacturing companies to achieve the feat.
Toro manufactures electric and gas push, and self-propelled mowers, although they are popular for their riding mowers that include lawn tractors and zero-turn mowers.
Toro is also in the commercial lawn care space business, the company generates about 70% of its overall revenue from maintaining golf courses and ballparks nationwide.
Where are Toro lawn mowers made?
Toro factories are located in Minnesota and Wisconsin, and these are where most Toro residential mowers are produced.
However, the electric motors that power it’s mowers are made in changing China and shipped to the US, where it will be joined to the frames and other parts produced there.
Toro also sells mowers at a discount price through its home depot. Initially, Toro manufactured all of those mowers.
However, from 2007 up till today, the production of mowers is outsourced to MTD Corporation, a joint venture of the moll family and Stanley Black Decker.
The MTD Corporation owns a number of facilities in North America where these discount mowers are assembled with parts made in China, Hungary, and other places.
Honest Opinion: Ferris vs Toro
Since I have used the two brands, I can easily give an honest review about them. For instance, I have a friend that owns a Toro ZTR, he likes it. He hopes to be able to buy a Ferris next year. He says the Ferris is better made and rides better.
Ferris mowers are nice, the suspension is a great thing and 21hp on a 48 or 52′ deck will suffice if you are not mowing big fields but your yard.
However, I would take the Ferris over the Toro but I don’t really like Toro ZTRs, it’s overrated in my book.
